Beast (#1)
The dream is always the same.

I’m standing on a road full of shadows. The darkness is everywhere, oppressive. There’s only a single lamp glowing red and an empty bus stop. I know what’s coming.

I do nothing.

I always sit down at the bench, waiting for him. I wait for what seems like both hours and seconds. My dream is both endless and immediate. It’s just me and the bus stop and the light.

And the dark.

Then everything changes. The air shifts. The lights dim and brighten. The air pulses. A low hum sounds from both far away and nearby. There is a voice, low and deep. I would shut my eyes if I could, but I can’t.

The first thing I see are the eyes.

They glow with the same scarlet hue as the lamp. The only difference is how bright they are. They hypnotize me, silencing all thought and demanding my focus. I sit at the bus stop, unable to move. Then the voice sounds in my head.

You have to invite me in.

Master (#2)
I ran through the forest as fast as I could. Strange eyes shimmered and glowed, tracing me as I made my way through the darkness. I ignored them as best as I could, pushing down my growing terror. Who knows what beasts lurked in this hellish world. I wasn’t going to wait and find out.

I kept running until my lungs were burning. I came to the edge of the forest and burst into the clearing. The world opened up as I continued to stumble forward, waving my arms to keep my balance.

Something was off.

The sky was strange here, covered in a thick layer of clouds. The swirling clouds were pale with a tinge of red. The grass too was otherworldly, tall and the color of blood. I didn’t have time to think about it. I ran into the tall grass, pushing it out of my way as I ran forwards.

The tall grass was disorienting. I tried my best to run in a straight line, but the grass was thick and there were no visual markers to ground my journey. That, and the air was thick here.

The air had a certain smell to it. It smelled almost sweet. I could taste it as I continued to gasp and wheeze.

It was strange. The burning in my lungs started to fade away. My arms and legs were growing heavy. The panic and fear that had propelled me through the forest were dissipating. I stopped in a small opening in the grass, turning around slowly.

Why had I been running?

I continued to wrack my brain as the grass started to shift. I looked down just as it started to wrap itself around my wrists and ankles, pulling me down to the ground.
