#1 – Our Last Hope
I’m Lucien Lesauvage, convicted murderer and all-around great guy.
My main claim to fame these days is that I’m the only convict ever sent to Supermax who considered it a blessing.
Why? It’s complicated, but here’s a big clue—the hardest prison in the country to break out of is also the hardest to break into.
I was living the good life, solitary at the Big House, until Tiffany Thompson, President of the United States, dragged me to DC. She doesn’t feel sorry for me. No, the demon bitch wants me to do a job–one that has killed a half-dozen better fighters than me.
Rule number one from the mean streets of Chicago—never take on a fight you can’t win.
But our Lord High Demon Tiffy won’t take no for answer.
I said no anyway. Now she’s telling me how much she likes my family and friends. Agghhh!
Rule number two from the mean streets of Chicago—family and friends count for everything.
#3 – Blood in the Seine
"We’ll always have Paris." So Humphrey Bogart promised us in Casablanca. But seventy-five years later, the city is about to explode in fury.
I’m Lucien Lesauvage, a big fan of the City of Lights and a happily retired demon slayer. Over the last year, though, some dark immortal has been killing and mutilating women and girls in what used to be Gay Paree. Now the attacks happen almost daily. The French Government has been powerless to stop the carnage.
And if they don’t destroy the vicious demon soon, the whole city will rise up in another bloody revolution and chaos.
To be honest, I’ve never cared for the politicos in France, but I have a soft spot for the ordinary folks living in the land of my forefathers. They’re people, just like us, trying to get through the day without being shot or sliced up. Is that too much to ask?
I don’t think so. Somebody has to save them. Of course, I always encourage other demon hunters to claim the glory of the victory, if they can. I’ve been blasted and bloodied in too many magical fights already.
But if someone else can’t get the job done, I might have to put my life on the line…again. This time for liberté, égalité, fraternité!
