The Dead Man Adventures Series by J.E. Rohrer (AKA A Village Mystery Series #1-5)

Overview: Having grown up in a small town in Indiana, my interest in small towns is natural and sincere. And I have always enjoyed reading mysteries, spy novels, and science fiction, so it was inevitable that eventually I would try my hand at writing. When self-publishing first became available, this was the obvious route to take, for me. At that time, eBooks were not yet as popular as they are now. My opinion, for what it’s worth, is that eBook publishing has greatly democratized the publishing field. This is part of a general trend facilitated by the internet and affecting all of the creative arts: music, video, games and the printed word.
Genre: Fiction | Mystery, Thriller & Suspense
Dead Man Below Deck (#1)
Professor Ed Schumacher intended to spend his summer break from his university position enjoying the wholesome atmosphere of small town life in Wisconsin with his wife Betty. He did not expect to become embroiled in a murder practically on his own doorstep. Events take the bumbling professor on a zany romp that becomes steadily more deadly as each day goes by. Who is killing people around the condo, why are they doing it, and, most important, why do all clues point to him as the culprit?
Dead Man to Starboard (#2)
Ed is trying to make a new life for himself and his wife Betty in bucolic Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Unfortunately, one of the members of the Downsized Boomers Support Group dies under mysterious circumstances. Ed conducts his own investigation only to learn that darkness lurks under the idyllic surface of the village.
Dead Man in Galley (#3)
Ed is feeling very lucky. He has just starting a new career as a consulting ethicist, and all seems right with the world in his little corner of rural Wisconsin. However, before long he finds himself entangled in a case where big money, lust and death are confronting him at every turn. In a story about pharmaceutical companies and their university partners, Ed discovers that greed puts a spin on scientific truth.
Dead Man in Head (#4)
The Feds force the medical school to bring Ed Schumacher back to investigate the death of a research subject. The problems of people who live with serious and persistent mental illness confront and confuse him at every turn. Even time turns on its head before this investigation is over.
Dead Man at Anchor (#5)
Semi-retired professor Ed Schumacher takes a job as an interim manager. Unfortunately, he is pursued by a werewolf, or is it just a vicious dog? When a dead man is found with a silver bullet in his heart, the case becomes interesting. When werewolf hunters enter, it becomes serious. When he meets the animal face-to-face, he is not sure what to believe: is it man or beast or both?
