Requirements: .ePUB Reader, 1.2 MB
Overview: David Clarke spent his working career as a forensic scientist, initially in England and then for twenty-eight years in Hong Kong. Retiring to Tuscany, he embarked on a course of study and work experience in art restoration, after which, he took up full-time novel writing. He has now self-published six books: the three novels in the Rare Traits Trilogy (Rare Traits, Delusional Traits and Murderous Traits); two novels in the Cotton & Silk crime thriller series: Irrefutable Evidence and Remorseless; and a stand-alone novel — An Imperfect Revenge — a chilling psychological thriller set in an abandoned villa in the heart of Tuscany. In writing these tales, David has drawn on his extensive forensic science background, the fascinating world of Renaissance art and art restoration and his travels to many parts of the globe. David and his wife, the children’s book author and illustrator Gail Clarke, now share their time largely between England, Tuscany and Phuket.

1. Irrefutable Evidence
Charged with a murder he didn’t commit, his life is in ruins. And there’s nothing he can do about it.

Henry Silk, star of a popular TV soap, is an actor with a bad-boy reputation. When police link his car to a body found in woods near Nottingham, he is dismissive; they must be mistaken. But with no alibi, no memory of the night of the killing and an increasingly watertight case against him, his disdain turns to horror when he is charged with murder.

Jennifer Cotton, the young detective constable who uncovers much of the damning evidence, has no doubt about the actor’s guilt until an unexpected revelation turns her world on its head. Unceremoniously removed from the case and her reputation in tatters, she risks her future by pursuing her own investigation, determined to prove Silk’s innocence.

As one startling discovery leads to another, Jennifer draws closer to the real killer, and closer to a potentially fatal confrontation.

2. Remorseless
Detective Constable Jennifer Cotton is convalescing at her stepfather’s villa on Sardinia, slowly recovering from the vicious assault in Nottinghamshire’s Harlow Wood that almost claimed her life. Initially convinced that her assailant will not risk being caught by attacking her again, she is forced to face reality when a killing spree commences in England targeting individuals from that fateful night.

However, when the search for the serial killer goes cold and Jennifer is back to full health, she puts all her energy into her new role with the London Metropolitan Police’s Art Fraud Squad who are investigating a multi-million-pound art-forgery racket based in Italy. But has Jennifer’s nemesis gone to ground permanently or is she closer than Jennifer thinks, biding her time?

3. The Assassin’s Dog
Cosimo Graziano Rosselli. Mafia assassin, a man who prides himself on his humanity — his victims feel nothing as they die; they simply cease to exist.

Goccia (pron: ’got:cha): Cosimo Graziano Rosselli’s beloved pug. Totally obedient and too cute to ignore, she accompanies the assassin everywhere on his contract killings.

When newly promoted Detective Sergeant Jennifer Cotton’s close friend Detective Superintendent Trisha McVie disappears in mysterious circumstances, a huge search throughout the UK’s East Midlands proves fruitless and frustrating.

Little does Jennifer realise that the person behind her friend’s disappearance is far closer to home than she imagines.

Little does she realise that an elderly man she sees sitting with his placid pug dog in a pub in central Nottingham is the enigmatic assassin Cosimo Graziano Rosselli. Little does she realise that Cosimo Graziano Rosselli is planning how and when to kill her …

“It will be instant, amore. One moment she will be alive, the next her soul will be on its way to heaven while her body crumples to a lifeless shell.”
