The story begins with a festival in the kingdom of High Forest. There, Marmel and his friends, Nova and Fredrick, take in the celebrations to mark the end of a recent war. But the wooded kingdom is not at peace. Some still hold onto their anger from the past, allowing an evil to return. The story weaves in a way that’s fun and thrilling, following the children as they try to survive through a single night. From the characters, the reader learns to bear up after loss, find strength in the past, and carry on with hope.
While this is my first book, I think you will find it well written. I have applied my skills to create something unique, vibrant and exciting. High Forest is a lush and magical place. It’s full of moving trees, giant wolves and monsters that creep below the ground. But most importantly, it’s easy to read. The Burning Tree is written at a grade 5 level. And yet, while I’ve kept the young reader in mind, I’ve allowed for something more. Parents will escape within the pages. There is enough depth and texture to the world to keep anyone reading.
So while I hope you read and enjoy my work, it is my goal to be forgotten altogether. For most of all, I want readers to forget they are reading and believe in the world created for them.
