Overview: An American city, at war with itself, beaten down, ravaged for many years by crime and drugs. The city used to be an epicenter of blues music, but those days are long gone. First the businesses left, then the people, and finally the music was silenced.
Enter newly elected Mayor Candace Washington, an ambitious, young African American woman, with a gift for public speaking, a head for politics and looks that stop you dead. More than that, she has plan to bring back business, people, and the music. After winning the election, she sets out to create The Blue Zone, a ten-block square area, where her goal is to make crime virtually disappear.
It is the mayor’s re-election year, and so far, she has made good on her promises. Overall, crime in the city is down, but true to her word, inside The Blue Zone, it basically doesn’t exist. Businesses are thriving, the population is going up, and music clubs are opening all the time. For the first time in decades, the night air is filled with the forgotten sounds of the city’s musical past.
How has she done it? The answer lies within The Blue Zone…
