Overview: The city of New Orleans has enjoyed relative peace following the events of The Deep Dark River. Teche, Florence Hawkins, and Todd Finley have survived a destructive conflict with Providence Baptist Church, a Christian cult who sought to permanently extinguish the supernatural from one of the most famously occult cities in the world. However, their narrow escape was secured through sacrifice…with consequences none of them could have predicted.
In a world ruled by ancient entities, influenced by intention, and caught in a delicate balance between the physical and metaphysical, nothing comes without a cost, and no transformation can be stopped, once catalyzed. With Marie’s spear, the only object known to permanently kill spirits destroyed, it seems as if nothing could truly threaten New Orleans and its otherworldly denizens again. However, the opposite proves to be true.
Desperate to reverse the damage done by the destruction of the spear, Teche, Florence Hawkins, Todd Finley, and Holata seek answers that could save the city from menacing primordial creatures, once thought to be banished from the human world. Creatures like the rougarou, haints, and the cauchemar emerge from the mystique of South Louisiana folklore to haunt the streets of New Orleans. Of course, a few scary bedtime stories shouldn’t stand a chance against river gods, a relentless witch, and a very, very determined Midwestern runaway…right?
