          I was very skeptical about this mini-series, but I decided to get it anyway. I am super excited about the upcoming move, so I figured this would tide me over for a couple of weeks. Not looking at the creative team beforehand, I came to this book with very little expectations, both for the art and the story. I was very pleasantly surprised to see the creative team that was assigned. The story is solid, it focused in on much of the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe (apparently Multiverse: 199999). Even if you haven’t seen the movies in a while (e.g. The Incredible Hulk), the scenes illustrated within this issue will bring you back (South America "soda" bottling plant).

          I thought it was very interesting how these prelude issues will revolve around Nick Fury’s need and ability to keep multiple "balls in the air"; specifically the one where he has to deal with the crappy politics of his own position as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Will he be able to manage Banner, Cap, Stark, Thor and most importantly, his superiors? Maybe with Agent Coulson, he has a chance! We will have to see how things pan out for "Fury’s Big Week".

          Normally I am not very interested in these type of "flashback" or "politics" episodes, but I believe this mini-series will continue to be worth the $2.99 price tag. In the end, the issues won’t add up to a regular priced IMAX ticket for the film, so it should be a decent investment. If anything it helps calm the nerves a bit after seeing the latest

        With the Avengers movie set to launch, Marvel has already created a prelude comic. The first issue, in digital form can be found in many places around the web – a kind of Superbowl commercial tie-in.

        The first issue doesn’t really tell us much that we don’t already know. Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk are all going to be involved in a team led, or at least formed, by Nick Fury. It’s also pretty clear that this series (and thus, the movie) is probably going to hew closer to the Ultimate Marvel line than the traditional one (Earth 616).

        There are no spoilers here, from what I can tell, so if you’re going to see the movie, reading the comic might add to the experience. Though, given how short and uninformative it is, it might not. Perhaps it was meant as an introduction for those who don’t normally read comics, or have been living in a cave for the last decade?
