The Anger Mill by Donald Phillip Pray (The Titania Trilogy Book 1)
Requirements: .ePUB Reader | 402 kb
Overview: Something is happening in the sleepy town of Evansburg, VA. People are dying, sometimes by ones or twos, sometimes by the dozens. All involve a mysterious brain-swelling phenomenon, and it is rapid and vicious. What makes these deaths particularly strange is that all of the victims have one trait in common…violent anger.
These human tragedies have been going on for a long time, first noticed during the American Civil War, but rising to a fever pitch in a violent demonstration on the streets of Evansburg. Two scientists, Ray and Linda Wagner, are contracted by the National Institutes of Health to discover the etiology of the deaths, and this leads to a tangled web of discoveries, which places them and their unborn child in imminent danger.
The U.S. military also takes notice, as the source of this malevolent power could be harnessed as a weapon for which warring enemies would have no defense. A scheming Colonel Elkins leads an effort to duplicate and weaponize the phenomenon, and this puts the military in direct conflict with the Wagners’ mission.
Ray and Linda realize that the brain damaging force is being generated by a protozoan-like organism, which has grown truly huge in the labyrinthine chambers of a nearby mountain cave. Now, they must kill to survive if they are going to save themselves and the wondrous intelligence in the rocks below.
