Overview: Florent Bainier is a French author who began writing during a trip around the world, the landscapes of which inspired his first novel. Fascinated by archaeology, travel, and the discovery of other cultures, he enriched his knowledge by attending courses at the École du Louvre, in order to lend credibility to his narrative by adding numerous historical details. Thus, the various nations that populate his literary universe borrow traits from civilisations that have marked the history of humanity, such as the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Egyptians, the Scythians, the Incas, and many others, both in their artistic characteristics and their religious or military features. At the same time, in recent years he has become interested in phenomena related to near-death experiences and evidence of the survival of the soul after death, using research into these topics as a springboard for his plots.
Genre: Historical Fiction
01 Namathea
Arcan has lost his memory, and would have lost his life, had he not been rescued in the heart of the desert by a troop of soldiers from Namathea. Sent by the Priestess of Time, they belong to an ancient people, who have always been protected by the gods. But their king has died, and the divine signs that point to his successor are slow to appear. Enemy armies grow around the kingdom, coveting the riches of its lands. The Sarthian Empire, the nomadic Ughar tribes, and the Lorestian mercenaries join forces to seize them. Arcan must learn to decipher his prophetic dreams to prevent the destruction of those who helped him, and ultimately discover who he is.
02 Sargania
To the east of the long White Mountains, Arcan has made the arduous crossing of the Yamena Desert to reach Sargania and reclaim the crown stolen from him. To the west, war rages between the Sarganids and the Irulian armies of the King-Priest, and nothing seems to be able to stop it, not even Jahyna’s determination. Taking advantage of the King’s absence from Namathea and the mysterious illness that has weakened the great Priestess of Time, Galnor plots to seize power, even if it means corrupting his soul by allying himself with malevolent forces. To defeat his enemies and rule both sides of the White Mountains, Arcan must first conquer himself by undertaking the most perilous of journeys.
