1. Double for Death (1939)
Sly Tecumseh Fox has a sharp eye for clues in a murder case–but this time he’s seeing double. The late financier Ridley Thorpe has been shot twice. There are two gorgeous suspects, two very good motives, two hot-headed suitors, and two well-used murder weapons–then there is a second Wall Street murder.
2. Bad for Business (1940)
Poison in the pate. Someone was doctoring cans of Tingley’s Tidbits right in the factory. The doses weren’t lethal to the customers— but they would be to Tingley’s reputation if the sabotage didn’t stop. It looked like a case of cutthroat competition when private detective Tecumseh Fox took the job — and then a throat was really cut!
3. The Broken Vase (1941)
When death stages a performance at Carnegie Hall, Tecumseh Fox goes backstage to catch the killer who pulled the strings. Who stole the dead man’s Stradivarius–only to send it back? And what about the deadly duet featuring a stolen Ming vase and an afternoon cocktail laced with cyanide? Throw in an accompanist who plays all the wrong notes, a jealous sister straight out of Italian opera, and a chorus of suspects with a cacophony of lies and alibis. Suddenly Fox has to step up the tempo before the killer makes an encore–a sinister sonata composed in the key of murder.
