System Down: A Reverse System Apocalypse by Andrew Karevik
Requirements: .ePUB, .MOBI/.AZW reader, 761 KB
Overview: You can call me Miles. All my life, I’ve been shunned and ridiculed because I’m a Non… that is a person lacking a natural connection to the System, or in other words a sucker with no skill bars or levels. All my life I’ve been set aside and so I had to learn to survive the hard way. By actually training for years on end to be able to accomplish a fraction of what others could do with a simple click in their menu.
But one day, all of a sudden, the tables are turned. For some reason, the System stops working and all hell breaks loose. Platemail armor is now too heavy to carry for Warriors with no Strength attribute; Wizards have become harmless now that they have no more lists of spells from which to draw their power… Even the rulers fall, with no more skills or interfaces to help them govern and keep track of their kingdom’s needs. There are no more levels, no more classes…
But in all that chaos lies opportunity. Sure, civilization has quickly descended into anarchy and powerful monsters now roam the lands in search of prey. But someone’s disaster is another man’s boon, and the abilities I gained the old-fashioned way are now more valuable than even a chest of gold.
Join me as I try to survive this post-apocalyptic world, help rebuild a small colony into a true functional village and teach other survivors how to fight back. We’ll need all the help we can get as it becomes increasingly clear that we had better cooperate if we don’t want to end up in some twisted abomination’s maw.
