01. Family Honor
The author of the bestselling Spenser novels introduces a heroine unlike any other–private eye Sunny Randall. She’s street-smart, sexy, and suddenly thrown into a Boston mob war where high-stakes politics and low-down killers conspire to make Sunny’s first case her last. Optioned by actress Helen Hunt for a feature film in which she’ll take the starring role.

02. Perish Twice
Sunny Randall comes to the aid of three very different women in three very dangerous situations. One is for business. One is for a friend. One is for family. And all could be fatal.

03. Shrink Rap
Melanie Joan Hall is a bestselling author in a bind. Her publisher needs her to tour on behalf of her newest blockbuster, and Melanie Joan needs a bodyguard-cum-escort to protect her from an overbearing ex-husband whose presence unnerves her to the point of hysteria. Sunny’s cool demeanor, cop background, and P.I. smarts are an instant balm for the older woman. She begins to sense that Melanie Joan’s ex-a psychotherapist-is not your basic stalker, and when an incident at a book signing leaves the ex bloodied and the author unconscious, it’s clear the stakes are high. Deciding that the only way to crack the case is from the inside, Sunny enters therapy herself, only to discover some disturbing truths about herself . . . while putting her life on the line.

04. Melancholy Baby
Twenty-one-year-old trust-fund kid Sarah Markham suspects that her parents aren’t really related to her at all. "They can’t find my birth certificate," she tells Sunny in amazement. "They don’t remember which hospital I was born in." This isn’t the sort of inquiry Sunny likes to take on, especially not now, when her ex-husband of five years, Richie Burke–whom she still hasn’t given up loving–is marrying another woman. However, Sunny needs a distraction from self-pity, and she can see that "everything about Sarah and her parents seemed fraudulent … like something that had been built on the cheap, with shoddy materials and no craft, to conceal something unhealthy and mean." As she tears at this façade, though, traveling to Illinois and New York City in order to expose secrets not only in Sarah’s father’s past but in the history of a holier-than-thou radio celeb, Sunny discovers that her client isn’t the only person being kept in the dark. But is it worth destroying Sarah’s sense of herself–not to mention attracting the malicious notice of well-armed thugs–to set the record straight? And can Sunny even accomplish this, while struggling (with help from Spenser’s psychiatrist girlfriend, Susan Silverman) to understand why she’s 37 years old and "just can’t be married"?

05. Blue Screen
Bestseller Parker’s two non-Spenser leads, Boston PI Sunny Randall, and Paradise, Mass., police chief Jesse Stone, join forces in this breezy, fast-paced whodunit. Buddy Bollen, a sleazy Hollywood producer, hires Sunny to protect his girlfriend, Erin Flint, a stunning action star who’s trying to become major league baseball’s first female player, for Buddy’s franchise, the Connecticut Nutmegs. When one of Erin’s entourage turns up dead, Sunny discovers that the deceased was Erin’s younger sister, Misty, and that the two share a sordid past. Since the murder takes place on Jesse’s quiet turf, the detective and the police chief, both of whom are on the rebound from failed marriages, must take each other’s measure and are soon sizing each other up romantically. While the mystery’s resolution may be fairly predictable, the witty byplay between the principals and the convincing portrayal of their burgeoning relationship will leave Parker fans eager for the next book to feature Sunny and Jesse as sleuthing and romantic partners.

06. Spare Change
The victims, dispatched with a single shot to the back of the head, are not assaulted or molested in any way and share no defining characteristics. Their bodies are decorated with a few coins. Most troubling to the Boston PD is the time elapsed between the two most recent victims: 20 years. The city was terrorized by the Spare Change killer two decades ago, and Phil Randall headed the task force that came up dry. Now he’s been asked to come out of retirement to consult on the new killings. He asks his daughter, private investigator and former cop Sunny Randall, to join him. A suspect emerges, but there is no physical evidence to tie him to the killings, only Sunny’s intuition. Meanwhile, Sunny’s relationship with her ex-husband–for whom she still carries a torch–is moving to a new plateau as she tries to understand the family dynamics among her father, mother, sister and herself.
