Overview: In 2248, the Rhineland, an asteroid mining ship bound for deep space, crashes on an unnamed world near the start of its tour, killing its captain, Nikita Venko, and much of its crew. Akiko Rai, the ship’s doctor, and Nathaniel Royce, the ship’s networking and records specialist, help lead the survivors to safety. Ryan Mainer, one of the contract miners, does his best to boost morale between the others while helping his pregnant girlfriend navigate the world’s dangers, who was granted an exception to the state population control laws.
Too far out for the mining corps to mount a rescue – or even know they have crashed – the marooned survivors struggle to make a new life, coping with exposure to radiation from the crashed ship and the hazards of the spartan environment. As they grow to trust each other, the secrets that led them to ground begin to surface, threatening to tear their fragile community apart.
