1. The League
Sixteen-year-old Sulan Hom can’t remember life before the Default, the day the United States government declared bankruptcy. As a math prodigy, she leads a protected life, kept safe from the hunger and crime plaguing the streets. She attends Virtual High School, an academy in Vex (Virtual Experience) for gifted children.
Beyond the security of Sulan’s high-tech world, the Anti-American League wages a guerrilla war against the United States. When their leader, Imugi, publicly executes a teenage student, Sulan vows to learn self-defense. She acquires Touch, an illegal Vex technology that allows her to share the physical experience of her avatar. She then joins a Vex mercenary club and convinces a stoic teenage boy named Gun to teach her to fight.
Soon, Imugi turns his attention to the kids of Virtual High. Will Sulan’s Vex training be enough to help her survive his attack?
2. Risk Alleviator
Riska, a miniature winged tiger, is the first Risk Alleviator prototype. A purposeful collision of biology and weaponry, he is product of the Global Arms research facility. He was crafted to be a bodyguard for the wealthy and privileged. Before his kind can be mass produced and released to the market, an extensive testing and training phase is required.
When a training session goes horribly wrong, Riska is slated for destruction. Dr. Hom intercedes to save Riska’s life, presenting a new proposal to Global Arms. Riska is released into his care. The eccentric doctor is the first human to show him kindness, and a bond is quickly forged between the two.
But even as Dr. Hom alters Riska in the desired direction of Global Arms, it becomes clear he has his own agenda. First and foremost among those is to create a personal bodyguard for his daughter, Sulan.
3. The Dome
After escaping the League, Sulan and her friends are granted entrance into the Dome, a biodome touted as a utopian community by Global Arms. Sulan soon finds herself a pawn in Global’s political maneuvers to secure the national mercenary contract. Forced to embrace a public persona, she must charm Vex media moguls to further the cause of Global. Should she fail in her new role as company spokesperson, the consequences will be deadly to everyone she loves.
Meanwhile, the League unleashes a new deadly threat on the United States. When Sulan and her friends stumble on the trail of a League mole within the Dome, they set out to track him down. Will they be safe in their new home, or will they find themselves trapped among enemies?
4. Touch
From a young age, Gun has trained in the way of Anderson Arms. He learns to manipulate, steal, blackmail, and kill—whatever it takes to accomplish the mission set by his father. But Gun despises the work he does and the wreckage it leaves behind.
His newest assignment is to befriend a Virtual High student and infiltrate Global Arms. His target is Sulan Hom, the daughter of a renowned Global scientist. Gun approaches the mission with detached coldness, the same method he uses for every assignment.
But it isn’t long before he finds a budding friendship with Sulan. The more time he spends with her, the more he begins to care for her. Soon, Gun vows that Sulan will not become one more mission casualty.
As he delves more deeply into Global Arms, Gun realizes the true danger that awaits Sulan. Determined to keep her safe, Gun works behind the scenes to protect her. Will it be enough? And will he ever be able to win her trust after deceiving her?
5. Escape
Sulan’s life is in danger. She might not have pulled the trigger that killed Claudine Winn, but her association with the killer makes her guilty in the eyes of those in power. To make matters worse, Sulan has uncovered a secret that threatens to end Global Arms. Reginald Winn is intent on exacting revenge and silencing Sulan.
Now, Sulan, Taro, Billy, and a few others have no choice but to escape the Dome. She and her companions must carry their secret through the rough terrain of Alaska, contending with avalanches, weather, and bloodthirsty nomads as they attempt to evade the pursuing Global mercenaries. It soon becomes clear they will not escape without help.
Sulan is forced to turn to Gun, a corporate spy who posed as her friend. Can he reach her before Global does? Can she trust him to help her escape Global Arms, or will he seek to use her once again for his own gains?
