Overview: James Cox was born in Texarkana and grew up on a dairy farm seven miles out of town. Thanks to his mother he learned to enjoy reading at a young age and thanks to his father he learned to enjoy science fiction at an early age.
After graduating high school James completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Mathematics. This led to his career as a college math and CSCI instructor and gave him his passion for programming in general and programming Java in particular. He is an active open-source Java developer whose magnum opus is Matt’s MathTools, an application to help math teachers prepare and format written tests and worksheets.
James wrote his very first sci-fi stories in the seventh grade. None was longer than four pages and all have since been lost in a hypermass somewhere in the detritus of his youth. Since that time he has diligently worked to improve his skill in that regard.
