Overview: I am a playwright and small business owner from New Jersey. After working as a script coordinator for a TV procedural, I was encouraged to start writing my own mysteries and discovered that I love cozies. I have degrees in Theatre and Psychology, and an MFA in "Writing for the Screen + Stage." For hobbies I enjoy reading, playing board games, performing in children’s theater, and frolicking with my rescue puppy Phoebe.
Genre: Fiction > Mystery/Thriller
1. Pineapple and Poison
Sometimes life’s a beach. Ever bitten off more than you can chew? Sticky sweets can lead to a sour case of murder.
Lydia Doherty is about to achieve her dream by opening up her very own saltwater taffy shop on the Jersey Shore boardwalk. A sweet dream soon turns into a nightmare, however, when a prominent local realtor is poisoned, apparently after consuming one of Lydia’s free samples.
Determined to clear her name and save her business, Lydia dives into investigating, despite the potential danger. Who would have wanted the realtor dead? What was the real motive behind his murder? And why did the killer choose her delicious pineapple taffy as the way to commit this crime? Lydia is determined to get to the bottom of it all – no matter how sticky the situation becomes!
2. Double Chocolate and Death
The pull of the ocean can be deadly. A skilled surfer dies – is it murder?
Lydia Doherty is living out her dream of owning a taffy shop on the Jersey Shore boardwalk. After a murderously rocky start, things finally seem to be going well, until the handsome lifeguard who saved her begins to question the circumstances surrounding the death of a surfer.
Though the police seem to think that the drowning was accidental, Lydia suspects foul play, and finds herself once again irresistibly drawn into investigating what looks like a murder. Sorting out murderers and motives while trying to run a taffy shop is taxing, but Lydia dives right into the mystery. Will she find out the terrible truth?
3. Cinnamon Swirl and Suspicions
Let’s not split hairs here… Sometimes being a salon stylist can be murder.
Lydia Doherty might just be the happiest saltwater taffy shop owner ever. She’s gearing up for the grand opening party at her Jersey Shore shop, and things are going swimmingly at her beautiful boardwalk location. Her happiness is considerably dimmed however, when murder hits a bit too close to home.
Her best friend Trina, who works at a salon, and is helping Lydia plan the event, is faced with the death of a coworker. The death turns out to be a murder, and, in a twisted turn of events, the murder weapon points to Trina as the possible killer.
Though Trina had a history of strife with the deceased, Lydia is convinced that her friend is innocent, and dives into the investigation, determined to prove it. Will Lydia find the killer of the stylist in this hair-raising tale? And when she does…will she lose a dear friend?
8. Fireworks and Felonies
A Red, White and hot murder makes for a Blue holiday.
Taffy shop owner, Lydia Doherty, has always thought that the Jersey Shore is a great place to celebrate the 4th of July. Her holiday taffy production comes to a screaming halt, however, when a doctor in town dies and she becomes involved in the investigation.
Lydia knows that the fiery death wasn’t an accident, and she’s determined to get to the bottom of it. There’s obviously a killer loose in town and she’ll have to act fast! When surprise visitors suddenly appear at her house, Lydia finds investigating more difficult than usual, but, she firmly resolves to solve the case before the fireworks display, so that it won’t be “lights out” for another victim.
9. Sour Apple and Animosity
A friend in need…is a friend indeed.
Taffy shop owner, Lydia Doherty is working hard at her Jersey Shore boardwalk location, but still somehow manages to make time for her friends and family.
When one of her friends comes up missing, she suspects kidnapping, and is in a race against the clock to try and save her friend. The scene of the crime just happens to be the site of a murder, which makes Lydia fear the worst, and double down on her efforts to solve not one, but two crimes. Sticky situations are a way of life for the taffy maker and amateur sleuth. Will there be a sweet ending, or will time run out for Lydia and her friend?
