Kory Drake is a homeless young man living on the streets of an Earth that was conquered months ago by the alien Kergan empire.
After rescuing his street sister from detention and killing Kergan soldiers, Kory attracts the attention of a military adviser from a friendly alien civilization. The adviser offers him the use of an armed starship, along with training, if he will assemble a crew and agree to fight humanity’s enemy.
Seeing the agreement as an opportunity for reliable shelter and food, Kory accepts the offer, thereby becoming the captain of the starship Thunder. But now he must face new responsibilities and risks.
