Starlight Universe series by Chris Adamek (#1-2)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 828 KB
Overview: Chris Adamek is the winner of a beach towel in a Holiday Inn raffle about fifteen years ago (but not any literary awards), and is the author of some moderately unpopular fan fiction, numerous grocery lists, six bad haikus, and something about a group of dust bunnies living under a couch in mortal fear of the vacuum cleaner (way back in sixth grade). Starlight Universe marks his eighty-seventh attempt at writing something good, and due to the alleged possibility that Starlight Universe actually meets that lofty criteria, is his first attempt at publishing something. Please look forward to a proper biography in future novels, when the author has the accolades, dignity, and integrity worthy of such… yeah that’s not happening. The author will now stop rambling and referring to himself in the third person. Man, this whole section is a dumpster fire. Who cares about the author, anyway? I’m incidental. You’re here for the story.
Genre: Fiction > Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror
1. Moments of Transition
An exotic ball of anti-physics threatens to eradicate the universe, a powerful alien menace emerges from the shadows with a gauntlet of harrowing trials, and the crew of the OAS Starlight is suddenly caught in the middle of one really crappy day… Alas, there’s no rest for the weary. Captain Zachary Hunter and the Starlight crew must settle their demons within, rise to this momentous occasion, and solve the greatest conundrum the universe could throw at them. It might be the end of the universe, but it’s only the beginning of the adventure!
2. Home Front
The battle for Tarqaron is over, but the conflict has left deep scars on the universe. The quantum phase transition yet remains, sweeping across the cosmos and leaving nothing in its destructive wake. Meanwhile, the Erytians have retreated into the unknown to plot their revenge. During this calm between storms, the Starlight has returned to Earth for repairs, and the crew is given a much-needed opportunity to decompress. While Captain Hunter deals with family issues on the home front, Commander Mitchell and Doctor Shibata travel to Uranus for a simple rendezvous that gets complicated in a hurry. Meanwhile, Corbin’s attempt to treat a frazzled Cortez to a night of drinking turns into an unmitigated disaster when they get stranded in the middle of nowhere.
