1. Spells and Necromancy – Magic always comes with a cost.
For Lena, a mage in Rivaini’s College, that cost has always been great. Almost too much. It’s why she refuses to cast spells when she can. But fate and destiny won’t wait for her. It will come whether she’s ready or not.
And she won’t be ready, because when she gets involved in magic, bad things tend to happen. Death, an uncontrollable fire…oh, and black magic. Forbidden magic that was outlawed in Rivaini centuries ago. If the King or the High Enchanter catches wind of what she’s capable of, her execution will be swift. She knows that.
Still, somehow Lena happens to stumble across an ancient tomb of heroes. Even worse, she accidentally raises the entire crypt in a fit of uncontrollable magic. Most end up being nothing more than skeletons, but two are more.
As in, handsome and practically naked more. Tamlen and Valerius. Enemies from a time long past, but together they make her feel things she never thought she’d feel. Normal, loved, desired. Having thralls, being a necromancer—not something Lena wants. Tamlen and Valerius? They’re a different story. She hungers for them, and she’ll have them. Both of them.
Maybe together they can stop the ancient being whose eyes are set on Lena, the old god who will bring nothing but death and destruction in its wake.
2. Blood and Sorcery – Lena has never been a fan of magic. After purposely resorting to necromancy, she should feel nothing but guilt. Her guilt is drowned out by the pain her newest thrall brings, and the jealousy that emerges from her two men. Her noble and steadfast chevalier. Her fiery and angry mage. Her calm and logical runic warrior. She knows she might be getting greedy, but is it so wrong to want happiness with each of them?
Yes, when there are other lives at stake. All the mages in the College are at risk of execution after what the last High Enchanter did. Only she knows the truth of what happened in that cabin, and Lena will do everything in her power to protect her friends and the other innocent souls, even if it means marching straight to the king and being executed herself.
Because her soul is not as innocent as she thinks it is. Inside her, there is a darkness. A darkness that calls to an old god of death. The world will never be the same.
Gods are made of monsters and men alike.
3. Gods and Trickery – Just when things started looking up for Lena, everything took a turn for the worse.
Now a prisoner in the castle, she’s without her men and under the watchful eyes of Prince Cailan. The Prince who wants to marry her, make her the first mage queen of Rivaini. It wouldn’t be so bad, if he wasn’t a raving, murderous madman.
Separated from her men, pushed to her limits, Lena will have to learn to take care of herself. Use her magic to both protect herself and all the innocents Cailan threatens with his reign. She’ll have to face the darkness inside.
Zyssept, the god of death she’d bargained with as a child, is not what she expects. Genuine and eager to please her…and handsome. Very, very handsome. Suddenly resisting his call seems like the wrong choice. To take on a madman with a crown, Celena Locke just might have to give herself to death…
