Police detective George Chen lives in a perfect world free of crime or want. Humans are linked to a vast network called The Connection through devices implanted in their brains. Artificial intelligence robots provide everything. They create virtual meeting spaces for people to gather, produce cerbdramas that immerse participants in the story, manufacture all food, medicine and other needs, then deliver them directly to government assigned apartments. No one leaves their homes. Humans have no need to create anything and have lost the knowledge and ability to do so.
When a man breaks his link, George is sent to arrest him and uncovers a conspiracy threatening the existence of the human race, but it’s not the conspiracy he expected.
