Overview: When Sherlock Holmes pays the Kray twins to settle a blackmail matter, they ask him and Watson to do a couple of jobs for them to return the favour. This leads to the pair spending time in the East End and associating with the Firm. Unfortunately, the twins fail to resolve the blackmail affair and won’t pay back the money they’d been given.
Holmes is now determined to be repaid and with interest. The story takes place in the latter part of 1963 and early 1964 when Holmes and Watson are involved in the social and business affairs of the Firm.
They meet Sonny Liston at a club opening.
Watson meets and has a relationship with Kathy, who he last knew as a prostitute in Soho four years previously.
They fall foul of Adolf, Benito, and Tojo, the Morris brothers, which results in murder.
Holmes re-enacts The Musgrave Ritual in a search for buried treasure.
After two visits to Nigeria and their part in the disastrous Enugu project, Holmes is finally prepared to accept the debt has been paid.
