Shadow’s Talent by Tommy Muncie
Requirements: ePUB reader, 432 KB | Version : Retail
Overview: 17 year old Shadow Hatcher has dreams of getting into a prestigious spaceflight academy, going to live in The Colony and leaving his family’s farm in Sussex behind him, but the odds are stacked against him: the people who get selected for Christensen’s Flight Academy usually have Seeker status and a mind power known as Talent. Shadow has neither, but is about to start a chain of events that will lead him to people who might help him achieve his dreams. During a sleepless night spent climbing trees by moonlight, he witnesses a murder in the back lanes of his family’s farm, committed by a gangland drug dealer named Matt Carson, who peddles a highly contraband substance known as Dream Morphine and would happily see Shadow dead before he could make a witness testimony.
While waiting for the trial and watching his back, Shadow is reunited with a Dr Kit Calloway, who saved his life the previous year, partly thanks to possessing Talent and being liberal with the rules on its usage. When Kit shows an interest in helping Shadow achieve his dreams, Shadow begins to form ideas about how he might illegally acquire the same power and secrets Kit has to help him on his way to career success.
