Overview: A novel in the first person, attributed to a young woman who has a strange encounter with another woman who makes a fantastic claim as to her origins – a descent from hominids not included in the human catalogue, which is kept secret from the rest of the world. The young woman investigates this over many years and finds she is being watched by the authorities. She finally tracks the strange woman down, and after much questioning and doubting, the affair is brought to a shocking climax. Some lesbian references, and a final violent climax to the plot that leaves the many questions unanswered.
