Science Fiction Showcase by Mary Kornbluth
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 763 KB
Overview: This 1959 anthology contains 11 stories and one poem written by the friends of Cyril (C.M.) Kornbluth, one of the most prolific science fiction writers of his time. Kornbluth was a member of the Futurians, an influential group of science fiction fans and writers, and it was in that group that he met his future wife, Mary Byers. She, with help from Frederik Pohl — Kornbluth’s closest friend — compiled this volume. The anthology, dedicated to her husband after his sudden death in 1958, contains selections from some of the genre’s luminaries. According to Pohl, C.M. Kornbluth didn’t have a middle name and the “M” was for “Mary.” The anthology contains stories from such greats as Ray Bradbury, Poul Anderson, Frederik Pohl, James Blish and Philip K. Dick, among others.
