Overview: Sam’s Story is a short comic written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Tim Sale. It was published on June 2006 as a backup feature in Superman/Batman #26 by DC Comics.
The story was a tribute to Loeb’s son, Sam, who had died in 2005 at the age of 17 after a three-year battle with bone cancer. Loeb wrote the story ten days after his son’s death and it depicts Clark Kent’s friendship with a boy named Sam who contracts cancer. Tim Sale’s art style was strongly reminiscent of his limited series Superman: For All Seasons, also written by Loeb.
