The Boosted Man (#2)
The Universe hides many menaces: awful diseases, fearful storms, the emptiness of Space that drives men mad. But man can create his own dangers too.
The boosted men are almost super-men. Their muscles are like steel, their bodies possess great stamina, and their minds can communicate . . . they are processed men. They can present a threat to any community if these powers are abused and confused with the lust for power.
Hook stumbles upon what appears to be such a plan. And he finds that the only way to defeat them is to join them.
Star City (#3)
Hook must sink into obscurity to escape the vengeance of the Boosted Men searching for him out among the stars. He finds such a place of security in Star City.
Orbiting a relatively primitive planet, Star City is a mighty complex housing many thousands of humanoids devoted entirely to the pursuit of pleasure. Hook enjoys many pleasant days there.
Gradually it punctures his conciousness that all is not as friendly and gentle as it appears, and that pleasure seems eternally to be based on someone else’s pain.
Virility Gene (#4)
The virility gene is a well known, if rare, commodity in the Universe that Hook knows. Rare because its source has hitherto been unknown. When the inhabitants of the planet of its origin decide to reveal that they are willing and able to trade it, it is not surprising that a veritable ‘Gold Rush’ starts. Even Hook and his companions are not averse to staking their claim, for the virility gene both increases and prolomgs sexual pleasure.
Shaeel, Karg and Hook eagerly arrive at the weird planet and manage to find a claim. But things start to go badly wrong when they discover the true source of the gene – and when the Boosted Men arrive to manipulate the virility gene for their own evil ends.
