1. The Angel Falls
Six weeks. Just forty-two short days. That’s all it takes to rip the heart out of a city and change the lives of those who live there. Forever. One such life belongs to Ryan Jarrod. In the early hours of a wet winter’s morning on Tyneside, Ryan Jarrod approaches the end of his second shift as a Special Constable when he stumbles across the body of a savagely beaten Teddy McGuffie, a down-at-heel taxi driver. On the same night, an explosion rips through the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne’s student community. Casualties are high; the city brought to a standstill. And the University blast is only the beginning of a bloody reign of terror which threatens the very fabric of the region. With the McGuffie case shelved, Ryan vows to investigate it himself. When he uncovers links between the assault on McGuffie and a series of letters which seem to foretell the terror attacks, members of the force ridicule his theories. Except for one man: DCI Stephen Danskin. Danskin sees a lot of himself in the young Special. He breaks protocol. Invites Jarrod into the case. Together, they dive deeper into the tangled lives of those associated with the letters – and lay a trap to lure the killer to one of the region’s most iconic landmarks: The Angel of the North. What could possibly go wrong?

2. The Girl on the Quay
A boat found abandoned off the north-east coast of England. A girl snatched from the banks of the River Tyne. Another discovered face down in a sea of mud. Something links them. Something rookie detective Ryan Jarrod must uncover before the sands of time run out – for him, and for those he holds most dear. DC Ryan Jarrod’s first solo assignment is a missing person case; a young woman who missed an appointment. ‘Routine,’ according to DCI Stephen Danskin. ‘Probably nothing.’ Danskin couldn’t be more wrong. When a face from Jarrod’s past appears, the young detective finds himself thrust into a world he never knew existed. It’s a world of vice and prostitution, of kidnap and people-trafficking. A world where no-one seems to care but him. And, when an undercover operation goes tragically wrong, it’s a world which changes Ryan Jarrod for all time.

3. The Lighthouse Keeper
What would you do if you knew how you would die, but not when? The body of a young woman is discovered washed up on the rocky shores of St Mary’s Island. The remains are identified as those of Chelsea Birch; a girl with a troubled past and a line of work so unusual the suspects are many. With the emergence of a second corpse at a local beauty spot, and a third killing in Newcastle City Centre, Detective Constable Ryan Jarrod becomes convinced a serial killer stalks the streets of Tyneside – but it’s a line of enquiry which fails to garner support. When Jarrod and DCI Stephen Danskin learn one of the victims has high-profile connections, they suspect a cover-up which runs deep to the heart of Government. With the assistance of his girlfriend, DC Hannah Graves, and a few trusted colleagues, Jarrod and Danskin set out to unearth the truth. As the murderer accelerates his pace, Jarrod discovers the killer is playing a game with his victims. It’s a game he must also play, and it’s a game of high stakes. Should he lose, more innocent women will fall victim to the one known as The Lighthouse Keeper.

4. High Level
When the body of a serial entrepreneur is discovered at the foot of a lift shaft in Newcastle’s infamous Byker Wall estate, a troubled DC Ryan Jarrod, in line for a promotion he doesn’t want in a job he no longer loves, is called in to investigate. What should be Jarrod’s easiest case becomes his most difficult as two worlds collide: a world of the rich and self-righteous, where greed feeds corruption; and a world of the poor and destitute, where poverty nurtures desperation. Ryan’s obsession with the case leads him to fall foul of his friends and colleagues, leaving him alone to unravel the threads of both worlds – and the discovery that, when dark secrets lurk in the shadows of the human soul, no-one is quite as they seem.
