Overview: Sophie doesn’t mean for it to happen when she first cheats on her husband, Thomas. But it happens. And she likes it. Not the cheating part so much as the resulting union, and when Thomas confronts her, and she decides she can’t stand the idea of things going back to how they were, she selfishly tells him to live with it. She still loves him. He just doesn’t do it for her. And it’s not really a surprise when he has a problem with his stamina that makes it pretty much impossible for him to satisfy her.
Magnanimously, Sophie advises him to take a lover of his own. Not actually expecting him to. But he does. And keeps it a secret. And so that lack of communication is forced to end their marriage, isn’t it? Except it doesn’t. Not after Thomas realises where he went wrong with Sophie—with a little help from an unexpectedly overly friendly co-worker—and proceeds to correct the course of their marriage. By whatever means necessary.
