1. Baca
When a sultry redhead lays five thousand dollars on Baca’s desk and asks the struggling actor and part-time private investigator to find her missing lover, A-list actor Bob Landman, it’s a done deal. Baca fills in his friend, Hondo Wells, and they hit the streets for an easy case. A tense confrontation with a dangerous former Soviet Spetsnaz officer named Karl Rakes lets them know that it might not be all that easy. They find help from an unlikely source: Landman’s personal assistant, a nervous, flighty, elfin-sized transgender named Mickey Haile. The three follow several odd clues as the trail becomes more perilous.
Baca realizes Landman isn’t missing, he’s hiding because someone wants him dead. As they continue their search, a famous Russian Painter is murdered in Landman’s Malibu home shortly before they arrive to question him, and Baca spots cryptic clues in an unfinished painting that points to Landman, undocumented aliens, Indian caves, and golden artifacts. The information gets them closer to Landman and deeper into trouble. The redhead fires them from the case, Hondo is wounded, and time is running out for Bob Landman. If Ronny doesn’t find him fast, today will be the actor’s final curtain call.
2. La Woman
Hondo Wells dramatically rescues a young woman from a burning vehicle, and a passing news helicopter films it all. As people crowd around and the news crew continues filming, the woman disappears as if by magic. No one can locate her, so Hondo and Ronny take it upon themselves to find her. They discover the woman’s name is Jett Sunday, and that the burning vehicle was no accident. Some very bad men are intent on killing her.
The more the two friends dig, the more mysterious—and dangerous—things become. The FBI and CIA are suddenly very interested in what Ronny and Hondo are doing, and a black cowboy with lightning quick guns is hard on Jett’s trail. An East European with ties to terrorism pays Ronny and Hondo a visit and leaves a not-too-veiled threat: Stop looking for the girl, or else. Looming behind all of them is a terrifying, seven-foot tall behemoth with a Terminator-like focus on finding her. It seems the only people on Jett Sunday’s side are Ronny and Hondo, and they know her time is running out—fast.
3. Bad Moon Rising
Ronny Baca and his friend Hondo Wells get a little excited when television mogul Sylvia Artell hires them to locate her missing daughter, Bodhi Artell. Both men’s bank accounts are anorexic and this opportunity is just in time. From the start, Ronny and Hondo encounter an odd assortment of people, including a helpful undocumented alien, a struggling rock band named Electrical Testicle, Sylvia’s fiancé Troy Hanson, a stunningly beautiful woman named Amber Lane, and Jericho Moon, the enigmatic leader of a hippy-like group of young people.
The more Ronny and Hondo dig, the darker the trail becomes. Evidence points to a menacing figure called The Kiowa, but he is elusive. Cryptic messages written in human blood are found at murder scenes…and at the old haunts of Charles Manson. The two detectives close in on Bodhi’s whereabouts, when out of nowhere Sylvia’s fiancé whisks Bodhi away and takes her home. Ronny and Hondo arrive at Sylvia’s mansion hours later to discover that Troy and Sylvia were married only minutes before their arrival, and Jericho Moon performed the ceremony. Bodhi appears dazed.
Things seem over, until a few days later when Sylvia and her friends are murdered. Bloody messages on the mansion walls echo the Sharon Tate murders. Troy says he and Bodhi survived the bloodbath by hiding. Ronny and Hondo return to the mansion several days later and discover a note that orders Troy to take Bodhi to a graveyard. The two friends rush to the scene and straight into a nightmare of tricks, deception, and revealed truths. Their lives suddenly hang by a thread in an inferno of bullets and flames, and Bodhi can only survive if Ronny Baca again does the impossible.
