Robinson’s Hood series by Jeff Gottesfeld (#1-#2)

Overview: THE TREE is my first picture book, and picture books take time. The sale to Random House/Knopf was announced in Publishers Marketplace in December, 2012. Peter McCarty was the artist that Knopf was wanted. I was thrilled when he agreed to illustrate the book. It took a lot of time for his schedule to clear. Patience was rewarded.
In re my other writing, there’s been a fair amount of pseudonymous bestselling fun fiction for teen girls (including a NYT bestselling series called THE A-LIST) , and quite a bit of writing designed to get kids who may not love to read yet into the greatest activity in the world. As I see it, that’s easily 50% or more the kid reading population.
Home is Los Angeles, California, but I’ve lived the itinerant life of the writer. There have been stretches in Salt Lake City and Nashville, while my family center-of-gravity is still in New York City. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me in the gym, on the tennis court, ski slopes, golf course, or knee-deep in a river with a fishing rod in my hands. I like to learn. I read everything.
Genre: Young Adult, Fiction
1. Robinson’s Hood
High school freshman Robinson "Robin" Paige lives with his grandmother, Miz Paige, on the meanest street in the city. Miz Paige is his rock. Sly and Kaykay have been his buddies since forever. Smart, stoic, and loyal, Robin’s life has been defined by loss. And he doesn’t want another tragedy, so he lives afraid to stand or speak out. But then he gets pushed to the edge. Somehow, someway, he will get back at the Ninth Street Rangers…Stealing from the rich and giving to the poor takes on a whole new meaning–If Robin hadn’t just paid off the Ninth Street Rangers, or if Tyrone and Dodo hadn’t hit on him to do their schoolwork, he never would have done what he was about to do.
2. The Bank of Badness

Somehow, someway, he will get back at the Ninth Street Rangers…Stealing from the rich and giving to the poor takes on a whole new meaning–A tricked-out black Mustang with oversized rear tires pulled to a stop near Robin. He moved to the back door, unbidden. There was fear in his gut, but also fury. He hated the Rangers so much.
