Overview: A murder in a small, quiet town brings John Kent face to face with the past that he left behind and a future he never imagined. While trying to negotiate the sale of his land, John befriends Elizabeth Summers, a recent transplant from the big city. Through his growing friendship with Elizabeth, John sees in her something that he had never known he wanted, but now longs for. But when it is revealed that the murder is simply a small part of a larger conspiracy, the new friendship is put to the test.
With Elizabeth implicated in the conspiracy, John reverts to what he knows best and what he has been trained to do. As John becomes more deeply involved, the murderers turn towards him and his friends. Now he must find justice without losing himself in the past from which he is trying to escape.
