Overview: “Winners are not afraid to lose. But losers are. Failure is part of the process of success. People who avoid failure also avoid success” – Robert T. Kiyosaki.
Failure comes in many forms. It can be failing an exam, losing your business, not getting the promotion you were hoping for, or a painful marriage breakup. Failure is also relative. For one person, a stern reprimand from the boss is an embarrassing failure, while for another it is just an embarrassment. In the first case, the person would writhe in shame and frustration for days, reliving the moment over and over again.
The second person rushes to fix the mistake and regain the boss’s approval. While one person sees the loss of his or her job as a failure, another sees it as a setback. It depends on the individual’s personal “failure scale.” In an ideal world, everyone would never use the word “failure,” but would think of “obstacle” or “setback.” But, realistically, that doesn’t happen. Anyone who tells you they haven’t experienced failure is lying to your face. Like death and taxes, failure is an inevitable part of life. And it doesn’t happen once. We are likely to experience many failures of varying magnitude throughout our lives. It is always painful, embarrassing, frustrating and, at times, can be devastating.
