Requirements: ePUB Reader, 780 kB
Overview: Author Corrie Mitchell lives in Pretoria, South Africa, and is in his late 40’s. He has always been an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi fiction, and started working on The Rainbow’s End Saga a few years ago. Growing up, he claims to have lived in a ‘fantasy world’, and as a child, always wished there was some magical place he could escape to. This is where the idea for Rainbow’s End came from. The ideas for Travellers and Wizards, and gods and magic, stem from his vivid imagination, and his awareness of what people really want to read. He tried his hand at writing many times in the past, and has a few short-stories and poems under his belt. He found his true passion though, when inventing and writing Rainbow’s End, and catering for the young-adult market.
Genre: YA Fantasy
Wizard (Rainbow’s End #1)
Thomas Ross is an eleven year old boy who has just been orphaned. He wanders off into the Northumberland woods with no idea of where he’s going, or what is going to happen to him. After almost dying, he finds himself in a different world called Rainbow’s End. There he discovers that he is, in fact, a wizard, that fairies and dwarves and gods and witches really do exist; that his grandfather is a wizard himself – possibly the most powerful ever, and his grandmother, a gypsy…
But Wizardry is no simple matter – even if you were born to it… There are seven levels, linked to seven crystals, which in turn, represent the seven Universal Elements. Each has to be mastered…
The Rainbow’s End Saga, is Thomas Ross’ journey. It’s a story about a young wizard and a grumpy old man… A story about dreams and magic; and fairies and dwarves and little people. About an ancient race and demi-god twins; and children; an enchanted place where dreams really do come true. About choices and chances; and good and bad, and life and love and loss… and learning how to deal with them…
Shaman (Rainbow’s End #2)
It’s four years later, and Thomas Ross is fifteen years old. Rainbow’s End has become home, and Thomas couldn’t be happier.
But Desolation’s ruler – the demi-god Kraylle – will not rest before he has destroyed his twin sister, her Travellers, and her little kingdom.
This time, he sends a young Mongolian Shaman, a spell caster and Fire Starter. The boy causes farms and shops and orphanages to go up in flames; even the Magic Forest and Orson suffer at his hands…
Thomas needs all of his powers to fight this new evil, and in the end is faced with a decision; a decision with moral implications that will change his whole way of thinking. His whole life.
He attains the third Crystal, learns that witches really do exist; and promptly falls in love with one. He also discovers that life is all about decisions… Deciding where to draw the line, and when take no more. Decisions whether to stand up for all you hold dear, or stand to lose everything that has ever mattered.
