Overview: Spain, 1937. The civil war is raging between Fascists and Republicans. Five new recruits, different in every way — in age, nationality, and sex — have come together under the Republican banner, and are sent as reinforcements to Quimera. But in the midst of their journey, their vehicle is struck by a shell. The commander and the driver are killed on the spot. Left alone, the group quickly scatters. Inexorably, war and its cruel realities will catch up with each member of the expedition.

In 1937, Spain was in civil war between republicans and nationalists to power of General Franco, supported by Germany and Italy. In this context, men and women of different nationalities volunteer to fight against totalitarianism in the name of freedom. Thus, a group of seven youth militia is on its way to Quimera, where the population is the target of bombings. But following the attack on their convoy, they are forced to do the walk, without some food in their luggage. The road will be long and hard, and their ideals strained.

With Quintos, Andreas probably surprise his fans, accustomed to extremely sophisticated intrigue, just like Capricorn or Sagittarius, the ninth volume also makes the news. Far from fantastic or surreal environments that characterize it, here it is a story in building classic, certainly more accessible, as to ensure not to leave his readers the importance of humanist of his remarks. Indeed, it deals with a dark period of European history with the rise of fascism, with particular reference to the tragedy of Guernica in April 1937, considered the first massacre in modern history of an urban population. However, without directly addressing these events, the story is fully developed around these seven volunteers, all very different and not very sociable despite their common goal. This is also one of the messages that the author seems to want to teach us: no can have nice and great ideas of freedom, but do we apply around you? Regrettably, while this human adventure has not been a more thorough treatment. Because ultimately, we have a very superficial knowledge of the various characters while their characters and their differences are paramount. It is also strange to note how withholding the dramatic events of our history are suggested, giving them a very high dimension.

Graphically, Andreas is equal to himself in his personal style: a very clear and sharp feature a remarkable sense of movement and layout, efficient and intelligent. As for Isa Cochet, the second it beautifully with its pastel colors soft and warm, especially with a very successful work on the lights, adding volume to the whole.

Andreas Quintos trafficking through cultural differences in Europe, a subject could not be more topical. An enjoyable album, even if this is some frustration at the end of reading.
