Overview: Former Navy Seabee Scott Reynolds had settled into the quiet town of Bear Mountain in western North Carolina to live as a semi-retired handyman and soak in the outdoorsy mountain lifestyle he loves. Due to his teaching ability, knowledge, and natural ability to communicate with kids, he’s asked by the townspeople to be the Little League coach and Boy Scout troop leader.
But Scott’s going to be asked to do a lot more than that when a quasar beam from the other side of the galaxy skirts by– and nearly obliterates– our solar system, but still bathes the planet in enough cosmic energy to destroy all electronic devices while he and his troop are camping up in the mountains.
To get home, Scott will have to navigate his inexperienced charges through rough and dangerous terrain, while dealing with the worst elements of humanity already starting to emerge.
But if they manage to get home, the work– and the trouble– will really start.
