Predator series by Nathan Archer (AKA: Lawrence Watt-Evans) ( Books 1 & 2 )

Overview: "Nathan Archer" is another pen name of Lawrence Watt-Evans, and the author (as of May, 2011) of six tie-in novels, two short stories, a short graphic novel, and a parody self-help book.
Used to be I didn’t admit to both names, so I maintained a separate website here from 1995 to 1999, but abandoned it in 1999 because (a) Nathan wasn’t writing much, and (b) nobody was paying any attention to the page anyway.
When I self-published How to Prosper During the Coming Zombie Apocalypse, though, it seemed like a good time to update this.
The original was written in a sort of blog form, pretending that Nathan and Lawrence were separate people; I don’t think any of that deserves to be preserved.
As for where Nathan came from, the name "Nathan Archer" has no significance beyond me liking the sound of it and wanting a name that would alphabetize between Piers Anthony and Isaac Asimov, and Nathan was created not because I was embarrassed by anything I wrote under that name, but because "Lawrence Watt-Evans" had become so established as a fantasy writer that I needed another name for anything book-length that wasn’t fantasy, so as not to confuse bookstore personnel. It was never meant to be reserved for tie-ins; I always intended to write my own science fiction novels under the Archer name, but never found the time.
How to Prosper During the Coming Zombie Apocalypse got the Archer name entirely because "Lawrence Watt-Evans" looked too pompous on the cover.
Genre: Sci-Fi, Horror
Concrete Jungle: This book is a novelization of the original Dark Horse comic. It is far more descriptive and offers more background. Can be considered the prequel to Predator 2. It stars Detective Schaefer, Dutch’s brother, a New York city homicide detective, who suddenly finds himself clashing head to head with a vicious alien hunter. He recalls a story that his brother told him of a failed rescue mission in Central America where he lost his entire team. He described a heavily armed creature that he battled, which the government covered up. Could this be that same one? There are many, many questions that are raised in this book, primarily the whereabouts of Detective Schaefer’s brother Dutch, who disappeared shortly after battling the first Predator(see the first movie). The story offers insight as to the habits of the Predators and possible solutions as to why they come here to Earth.
Cold War: Something has fallen from the sky over the icy Siberian wilderness. Very soon decapitated villagers, soldiers and pipline workers litter the tundra. The Russian authorities are baffled, but deep within the Pentagon data flowing from a number of secret satellites leads to a chilling conclusion – the Predators are back, their alien starship has crash-landed! A US team is sent to Siberia: their mission to secure the spacecraft and its invaluable technology for American military use. One of the few people on earth with firsthand experience of the Pedators, Detective Schaefer of the NYPD is press-ganged into accompanying the crack team. Schaefer, mistrusted by his companions, has just one ally, a feisty young female lieutenant from the Russian Army. Together they face the sadistic hunters from the stars in a close encounter of the scariest kind.
