Overview: In addition to my well documented weakness for speckled yarns, I am absolutely convinced knitted accessories are more fun in sets. So once I wrangled one skein of this delightful bit of speckled goodness into a hat, I was pretty much destined to turn another skein into a pair of mitts.

The mitts use all the same speckle taming techniques as the hat (giving the yarn a nice big stretch of stockinette to show off on, making sure the more adorned bits stick to strong lines so they don’t fight with the yarn). But along the way they let that lovely diagonal line wrap itself around your wrist and spin off a thumb in a really rather delightful fashion.

I think they might be suspiciously close to perfect!

And don’t worry, you absolutely can make this with a non-speckled yarn and it will be lovely. But if you happen to have an opinionated yarn you’ve been having trouble finding just the right project for, this might well be it

The mitts are written in three sizes (castons of 42, 46, or 50 stitches), and you should feel free to adjust your gauge a bit to fine tune the fit of the mitts. Just be sure that you’re working at a gauge that gives you a fabric you like with your chosen yarn!
