Overview: Supernatural portals, guarded by vicious creatures known as “sentinels”, have been opening randomly throughout the world. People of decent moral character can escape the world by traveling through the portals, whereas people judged inadequate disintegrate. That doesn’t stop people from trying to use the portals, however, as the alternative is living in the horror of what the world has become. Chris hopes to lead his family through a portal in order to escape from the degraded world, but first he has to find one. Thankfully, he won’t have to do it alone. Chris meets Brent, who was a mathematician for the government, and Mike, an EMT. Brent claims to be able to predict where the portals will open. For his family’s sake, Chris hopes that he truly can.
