After his mother’s death, the seventeen years old Fabio is sent to live with a foster family in McKinley – a small, conservative village. It is quite difficult for Fabio to accept his mother’s death, and even more difficult to adapt to his new circumstances. He meets the neighbor boy Julien. They become friends. Julian is the first person since his mother’s funeral to look at him with interest, to look at him like a person rather than an orphan to be pitied.
Soon Fabio develops affection for Julien and eventually falls in love with him.
Fabio tries to hide his feelings from his friend, since he is convinced that Julien is straight. Fabio needs Julian in this village and don`t want to risk to lose him.
But Fabio`s world turns upside down once more when Julian finally brakes the walls and kisses him.
From there on they experience an incredible time together. Romance, love, affection, intoxication. Running hand in hand to dive into the cool, slick summer of the quarry, running through autumn’s gilded fields, running into the cotton candy colors of morning chasing dreams.
Julian makes Fabio feel human again – in every way Fabio has ever been dreaming of.
They make plans, make promises to leave this conservative, homophobic village, and to build up a new life in Santa Barbara – together.
