Genre: Fiction > Sci-Fi/Fantasy
A story of a group of individuals with special abilities coming together, united in a struggle. It’s character driven and thoughtful, like an evening with family and friends around the kitchen table, plus a few drinks and good food, followed by conspiracy, destruction, and choreographed mayhem.
1. In Your Head: Unity And Mayhem
What would you do if you had the ability to plant ideas into other people’s heads? Meeting someone who shared and understood this ability saved Pete Erikson from a life of trouble and regret. Becoming part of a larger group of people with similar abilities gave him a family, and a sense of belonging. But, what do you do when a member of the group crosses the line, and bends the will of innocent people to profit from death and destruction? Pete and his friends, led by their mentor, have to find out who’s behind all of this and stop them before the CIA or FBI figure out what’s going on, and they turn the world upside down.
2. Everyday Evil: Flow Of Traffic
Pete returns to Taipei to see Ming Ru. Before Pete can unpack his bags, he crosses paths with Jeff Lau, a planter in the business of prostitution, surrogacy, mail order marriage, sexual slavery, and illegal adoption. Lau uses his planting ability to make children believe that strangers are their parents, and then he sells them into their newly adopted homes. Alex, Cass, Surge, and Teach have to move up their plans to join Pete in Taiwan, and with the help of the Chen Clan, a multi-generational family of planters, they pull back the veil on Lau’s operations. Meet a group of young women from across Central Asia and Western China that end up in Lau’s business. Hear their stories as they share their histories, fears and dreams. Meet Zhang, a detective from Shanghai who goes to Taipei looking for answers after his nephew is kidnapped in China, and dies mysteriously in Taiwan. Pete finally spends time with Ming Ru, and that takes a turn nobody expects. In a crescendo, victims of Lau’s torture find strength to help themselves and the forces of Teach’s crew, the Chen Clan, Zhang and the local authorities converge on Lau’s operations. Women and girls are duped into, given away, or sold into servitude or prostitution, and young children and babies are kidnapped and sold every day. Human trafficking is not a business. It is a crime.
