Overview: Pirates’ Prey is the sequel to the author’s Love’s Savage Bonds, in which a beautiful 19th century English noblewoman finds herself caught up in the intrigues of her wealthy husband and his dangerous, long-lost brother. Lady Catherine finds peril as she is carried off, a bound captive… intrigue, as the courageous beauty begins to expose the dark secrets behind the brothers’ estrangement… and unexpected romance, when she is torn between her roles as wife, and as lover. It takes all her pluck and courage for Lady Catherine to emerge triumphant, with new love and a new life.
Pirates’ Prey picks up the story from there. Lady Catherine’s new life brings new perils: on an ocean voyage, she and her new husband are abducted by a band of pirates.
But there’s more here than meets the eye: there is dark mystery behind their capture… there’s a roguish privateer who would bind Catherine and take her for his own… new enemies and intrigues… and a beautiful female buccaneer whose eye settles on Catherine’s own husband!
Bound, gagged, threatened with a fate worse than death: once more, all of Catherine’s courage and resource will be required to win through, and to be reunited with her beloved.
Pirates’ Prey is, for want of a better term, a "Damsel in Distress" romance. All romantic heroines face distress of one form or another; this tale is aimed at readers who enjoy seeing those tropes played out with particular attention to capture and restraint; a "bodice-ripper" for those who like their romance with a bit of rope. There is dark villainy, gallant heroism, and the pluckiness of a heroine who faces danger with determination.
Needless to say, it’s a fantasy, and though a somewhat erotic one, it contains no sexually explicit material, and is intended for the enjoyment of those who can distinguish imagination from reality.
