The history of the Pin-Up series by Yann and Berthet

The combination of the two creators with the association of such talents, it could only be the result of excellent albums! ‘‘It was exactly the point I expected, today said Berthet. At that point I was surprised not to have thought of myself. This is also, One of the major forces that happen to Yann, people want to reveal themselves, their own wishes or desires.

Despite its flashy title, ” Pin-Up is not a nasty series. It is a hymn to Woman,” says Yann. ”Its image through fantasies it inspires men are addressed. The base choice of genre: comedy. The same story could be treated tragically, more romantic or possibly more humorous. We opted for the model of the Hollywood comedy ” in Ernst Lubitsch. ” The calibration history is defined, it was enough to inject characters and a plot.

The Heroin, Dottie, is a creature of dream. The ingenuity is unfortunately not the least of its attractions. End of 1941, while the war raged against the Japanese in the Pacific, her fiance Joe is called to join the soldiers of Uncle Sam. Left without resources, Dottie was then allowed to ask convince Milton, a comic book writer. Hair dyed black, she played for him, and troubling nationalist Poison Ivy … Between attacks, Joe mistaken as it may, his fears and homesickness.

Through his barrack mates, he discovered the famous comic and falls madly in love with his character become the darling of all the GI’s. It has therefore one obsession: to meet the luscious girl that inspired it!

To boost the morale of his troops, the US Army regularly hosts some of the hottest stars to visit the front. Marlene DietrichBetty Grable, Rita Hayworth and Ava Gardner will thus ‘medal’ for their dedication. The cartoonists and their models are also invited to come and comfort the wounded soldiers. Having learned that Joe is one of those maimed, Dottie is quick to take advantage of the invitation to see her fiance. Noticing that he is obsessed with his double paper, it will strive to regain conforming to his fantasy …

However, says Yann, ”The more she tries to identify Poison Ivy, the more it turns against her. Joe insists on preferring one to another and Dottie always loses.Several tracks will cross. Unfortunately, at any time, the meeting will take place. This side ‘not meeting’ raises funny scenes, but where emotion is never absent. What is fascinating with a pin-up is that it is not real. It is an object of metal or paper.” And Berthet concluded: ‘Poison Ivy is more irresistible than the attachment of Joe for Dottie. The dream is more powerful than reality. This is also the theme of ‘Pin-Up”’
