#1 Joe R. Lansdale puts a new spin on an old classic with this four-part adaptation of master-storyteller Robert E. Howard’s classic tale of terror Pigeons from Hell. Set in the deep south, Pigeons tells the story of a damned house with a wicked past whose vile form casts a shadow of death on all who dare to enter. At dusk, as the sun slumps below the horizon, scores of pigeons can be seen flocking from the house in waning sunlight. The pigeons, they say, are the souls of the damned escaping from the very bowels of Hell itself.
#2 What started out as a simple road trip has turned into a nightmarish disaster as Clare and Janet, heirs to the mysterious Blassenville estate, and their three friends find themselves stranded for the night in the derelict Blassenville mansion, located deep in the desolate heart of the Louisiana swamplands. With nothing left to do but to wait for daylight before they can go for help, the group settles in for the night, but it doesn’t take long for the evil that infects the house to try to claim its first victims.
#3 After last issue’s bloody surprises and frightening, new terrors, Claire and Janet follow a mysterious lawman away from the gore-filled plantation house to seek advice from a strange, obsessive-compulsive hermit. While they can’t leave their friends (or what’s left of them) behind for long, this may be their only chance at escape. Or maybe they’ll just find a quick death, if they’re lucky. Haunted by dangerous shape-shifting shadows, reanimated bodies of the dead, and the dark heart of the mansion itself, the panic-stricken twins would rather take a chance finding answers in the demented shack of a madman than spend another minute in the hell that still holds their friends captive!
#4 Shaken by strange old Alcebee’s mysterious portents and horrifying stories, Claire and Janet return to the crumbling Blassenville Mansion anyway, to confront the hideous thing that drove them out and possibly killed their friends–and to find a way to put an end to the curse that hangs over the estate.
When Griswell left the Blassenville Mansion those many years ago, he couldn’t have imagined the horrors that would eclipse the ones he saw then–but there’s far more to fear in the darkness of this twisted old house than ominous, shape-shifting shadows and zombies!
