Killer Chocolate Pie (#2)
Bert Hannah is thrilled to open her brand new combination pie shop and bookstore, Pies and Pages, just in time for the holiday season in Culver’s Hood, Nebraska. Kicking off the festivities is the annual Autumn Walk which is held in the downtown Old Market. Free samples of a tasty new pie and some awesome sidewalk sales on books are just what the doctor ordered to get new customers interested and buying.
Circumstances quickly turn dark, however, when the body of a disgruntled customer turns up on Bert’s doorstep. Detective Mannor is assigned to solve the case again, and Bert can’t help sticking her nose firmly into police business, digging for clues and ferreting out information. Will she be able to assist the detective in catching the killer, or will the trigger-happy killer come for her next?
Killer Halloween Pie (#3)
It’s Halloween, and Bert Hannah is eagerly looking forward to the annual trunk-or-treat being held at her church. She’s got a great costume picked out and has plans to hand out mini Jack-O-Lantern Pies. The celebration takes a tragic turn when an accident occurs in the middle of the festivities and a member of the congregation ends up dead.
Bert is the only person who actually witnessed what happened, and the more she thinks about it, the more she wonders if it was merely an accident after all. It seems as though murder has struck again, and Bert is determined to pin down the killer before they can deliver one more Halloween trick.
Killer Thanksgiving Pie (#4)
Thanksgiving is a big deal for pie and book shop owner, Bertha Hannah, largely because it happens to be the most pie-related holiday on the calendar. Bert soon finds herself overwhelmed with the number of orders which need
to be completed before the holiday rush, but she’s vowed to let nothing keep her from honoring her annual commitment to volunteer at the local soup kitchen.
Unfortunately, the holiday production schedule comes to a shuddering halt, when an unknown man is stabbed to death in the alleyway behind the kitchen. Could his murder be related to a recent string of mysterious deaths that Bert read about in the paper, or was the man merely the victim of a random mugging?
As she is dragged further and further into the investigation, Bert begins to wonder if she’ll ever be able to find the time and peace to stop and give thanks this year.
Killer Christmas Pie (#5)
It’s Christmas time and pie shop owner, Bertha Hannah, is gearing up with a brand new Gingerbread Pie and a little holiday shopping. Bert and her best friend Carla find themselves in a spending mood as the newest mall in the area advertises a plethora of specialty shops, department stores, and restaurants. It’s time for a girl’s day out!
Off on their festive adventure, the ladies run into Detective Mannor–a man Bert recently turned down for a date—and the day heads rapidly downhill when a body is discovered in one of the mall’s most popular shops. A cheerful season of peace and goodwill has turned blood red with homicide and it’s up to Bert to figure out the mystery before Santa can say Ho-Ho-Ho.
Killer Caramel Pie (#6)
New Year’s Eve is fast approaching in Culver’s Hood and, thanks to Detective Harry Mannor, pie shop owner Bertha Hannah has been invited to attend one of the largest parties of the season, which is being held at the mayor’s penthouse. Bert has her reservations about having to dress up and break bread with the city’s most well to-do citizens, but decides to go to the party anyway.
Tragedy strikes when a fellow partygoer falls over the fifteenth story balcony, but Bert is convinced that the resulting death was no accident. She’s positive that foul play was involved, and is frustrated when no one else seems to believe her. Determined to get to the bottom of the incident, she must use her wits, and her wicked baking skills, to uncover the dark truth.
Killer Cocoa Pie (#7)
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and much to Bertha Hannah’s surprise and delight, the Season of Love is busier than even the Christmas holiday. Overwhelmed with baking pies and making special deliveries, Bert doesn’t have any extra time for murder and other nonsense. When a young woman’s body is found stuffed away in the back storeroom of Pies and Pages, however, she’s once again thrust into the middle of a mess.
What seems, at first, to be merely a horrific accident, turns out to be far more sinister, when Bert realizes that a local corporation may have some connection to the murder. The roots of dishonesty, sabotage, money, and LOVE all seem to have ties to this most recent case. Will Bert be able to uncover the truth before Valentine’s Day, or will her business be buried in intrigue?
