Pictorial Signs and the Language of Film by Jan M. Peters (Jan Marie Lambert Peters)
Requirements: ePub Reader, 2.1mb
Overview: What the art of printing has done for the word, the camera did for the image. The image from the camera has become a competitor of the word in more than one sense. Not because the image media seems to be the end of a reading culture, but because photography, film, television and video appeal to us in a very different way than book and magazine. The subject of this essay is therefore not the content of the image media, but the influence that the form of the medial image carries on looks and feels our imagination and us.
