People Of The Book by David Stacton
Requirements: ePUB / MOBI Reader, 1.1MB
Overview: Set in the seventeenth century, the novel uses the bloody religious conflict of the Thirty Years’ War as the background for blending history with fiction through two primary plot lines. The first tells of Axel Oxenstierna, Chancellor of Sweden and the rallying point of the Protestant armies following the death of Gustavus Adolphus. Through his portrayal of Oxenstierna, Stacton also introduces us to such personalities of the time as Cardinal Richelieu and generals Tilly and Wallenstein. The second story is that of Lars Larsen, a young adolescent who, with his younger sister Hannale, wanders through an embattled Europe searching for the man who might be their only living relative.
Genre: Fiction, Historical
