Outpost of Jupiter by Lester del Rey
Requirements: .ePUB, .PDF reader, 7 mb
Overview: Young Bob Wilson, a student of language science, is hurtling through space at a million miles an hour on the greatest ship ever built. Just before landing, it is mysteriously hit.
On Ganymede, a satellite of Jupiter, Bob and his biochemist father find their resourcefulness challenged by a deadly plague which threatens the population of the small colony.
A little girl’s strange tales of friendship with beings from Jupiter lead Bob to the real test of his interrupted studies: communication with alien but friendly Jovians who have no language as humans know it. How Bob solves this problem and finds an antidote for the plague makes for a suspenseful climax to this engrossing tale. Mr. del Rey, whose previous Moon of Mutiny was a Junior Literary Guild Selection, has combined sound and scientific knowledge with an imaginative prognosis of the direction in which science will lead us.
