Overview: Lee had the equivalent of doctorates in 20 different fields due to learning machines that could almost instantly give you an expert’s knowledge. He had the latest technology for weapons and protective fields. He was prepared with centuries of equipment. He was sixteen and got his grandfather’s AI – Anna to find him someplace that had magic. He might have bitten off more than he could chew.
The planet Anna found was called Trace or similar in the local language. The language was not one of the known languages and dialects. There were no electromagnetic transmissions, but Anna had recorded groups and individuals flying without apparatus and the civilization appeared fairly advanced with fairly large cities and vibrant trade. Tiny surveillance drones had noticed strange phenomenon all over the planet. Individuals appeared to make things happen when using strange words and weird arm movements. It appeared to be magic. Thus begins the story of the Lee’s travel on the planet, Trace, as the Outlier Mage.

Darvist (#2)
Baron Lee and Lady Bala are headed to Denshu, his gift from the King. There is an imposter mage who has taken over his province and he must woo the residents to support him while taking down the imposter. The town is 17th century in most of its infrastructure and trade. Lee knows the new king put his strongest mages in the southernmost town in the kingdom – adjacent to Darvist. Lee knows the King plans to abscond with the remainder of the huge loan it had obtained from Darvist and Lee’s ‘gift’ of nobility and the Denshu province was to give the king time to get away from a followup invasion.
Lee has to upgrade the town and raise the standards of the people he has come to respect before they can assist him. He is experimenting with the two portals he confiscated during the last invasion to see if he can stop the next attack or give him the means to respond. He thinks he has some of the keys to using the magic to portals since he can’t do it with 24th century electronics. He is mastering the ability to create matter from the zero-point mana energy he can produce. This nearly inexhaustible supply of mana may give him the means if he can learn to control it and teach his closest associates. Anna is staying by his side now and the town has become accustomed to her presence but she has limited powers. Bala is training the townspeople with magical abilities to support the defense of the town.
PSI (#3)
Lee is tired of the monarchy in Darvist and since Anna has transformed into a female elf, he decided they should explore more of the planet. Bala has decided to settle down in Denshu with the blacksmith, Liam. Lee was intrigued when he saw the structures of Ethralin. His Mage Light Company is doing well and he planned to ask Sprann and Perene to join them. His first experience in Ethralin was to waylay a local and gain the language. He inadvertently waylaid a spy from a neighboring kingdom to Ethralin and learned three languages and more about the politics of the region than he expected. The people have some other ability besides magic — it isn’t technology either — yet they can fly without mechanisms. He and Anna have to learn to navigate this society that is threatened by neighing countries.
Lee falls for a local which complicates a lot because her father can read minds and is brilliant with few social skills. Lee thought he was powerful with his tech and his magic — he is — but it may not be enough to survive a different society. He is still trying to keep a low profile and that hasn’t worked well for him in the past.
