Overview: Kaleo finds himself at the bottom of a bottle of whisky nightly. As the lead-bartender at Violet, what used to be Honolulu’s hottest gay club, Kaleo questions why he’s still a bartender and not the owner of his own bar. Having just turned thirty and still single, he clings to the hope that Parker, his straight best friend and fellow bartender, will “assume the position” as his boyfriend.
With his younger brother working as a bouncer and his older brother suddenly wanting to perform in Violet’s Fish y Chicks drag queen revue show, it’s a family affair. But when Robin, an HIV-positive transgender woman and owner of the club, is two months behind on paying the club’s rent because of her medical bills, Kaleo and his brothers have bigger fish to fry.
With Robin’s health declining, the Violet ‘ohana, led by Kaleo, must put aside their personal problems to save the club and save Robin’s life. But in order to come up with enough money, they soon realize that it doesn’t take a village, it takes a community… the gay community.
